Anatomy & Physiology for BMETs

This Anode Technical Institute course introduces anatomy and physiology through the practical lens of biomedical equipment support. Students learn anatomical terminology, homeostasis, and the major body systems, emphasizing the physiological processes behind commonly monitored signals. Topics connect cardiac electrical activity, blood pressure, ventilation, oxygenation, temperature, and other measurements to their biological sources and clinical meaning. Hands-on learning activities use simulated signals, sample readings, and equipment scenarios to distinguish physiological changes from measurement limitations without requiring patient contact. Reviews and a capstone project reinforce foundational concepts relevant to the CBET anatomy and physiology content area while keeping troubleshooting responsibilities distinct from clinical diagnosis. The course supports preparation for the Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician credential awarded by AAMI; Anode Technical Institute is not affiliated with or endorsed by AAMI.
